Arcachon
Made famous in the 19th century by the aristocracy, whose influence is still preserved in the charming architecture of the extravagant villas of the "winter town". Now better known for its long sandy beach and oyster farms.
Travel is via Paris (change of station) or via Lille (change of platform), TGV to Bordeaux and onward local train (50 mins).

The hotel is just a short walk from all the shops and restaurants and handily located for the ferries out to the islands and oyster beds.
