Bordeaux

France’s wine capital since Roman times, cosmopolitan Bordeaux is a lively city with fine 18th century architecture, a thriving cultural scene and a modern business and shopping district, centred on the busy Rue St Catherine. Some of the city’s best buildings are found along the River Garonne, with the view from the Pont de Pierre particularly good. On the first Sunday of every month the centre of Bordeaux is reserved for walkers, cyclists and roller skaters.
