A Corsican Adventure
Known throughout France
as the 'Ile de Beauté', Corsica is
like no other Mediterranean island. An enchanting
mix of austere mountain villages, lush countryside,
spectacular mountains and deep gorges with
crisp, clear rivers.
With over 1000 kilometers of colourful
coastline and fine sandy beaches, Corsica
is a paradise for walkers and nature lovers,
and by far the best way of getting around
is by train.
Corsica has one of the most picturesque
railways in Europe, its simple trains running
on single track as they climb up and down
and across the mountains. The 'Corsican
Adventure' itinerary suggested below is
one that we feel will enable you to get
the most out of your trip. It can be adapted
to suit your own requirements.

Arrive in Nice, staying
overnight. Discover the
'Old town', rich in history
and brimming with restaurants.

the ferry from Nice to Bastia.
Stay overnight in Bastia
and take time to explore
the baroque beauty of the
commercial heart of the

Take the train to Calvi
via Ile Rousse enjoying
spectacular coastal and
mountainous scenery. Stay
overnight in Calvi.
Stage

Take the train from Calvi
to Corte, the historical
heart and soul of the
island. Here, in the mountains,
you are ideally situated
to explore the town, or
the surrounding gorges
and forests (Gorges de
Restonica, Gorge du Tavignano,
Venacais, Forest of Vizzavona).
Stay 2 nights in Corte.

Take the train from Corte
to Ajaccio, an experience
that will live in your
memory forever as you
view an amazing array
of vistas on your way
to the birthplace of Napoleon
Bonaparte. Stay overnight
in Ajaccio.

Take the ferry from Ajaccio
to Nice. Overnight stay
in Nice.
